Abstract

This study determined the effects of bagbagotot (Phyllantus reticlatus) berry dye and atswete (Bixa orellana) seed dye as colorants of white wares constituting transparent base DT 24 at low firing temperature. The results ofthis study showed that atswete dye can be used as colorant on pre-fired white clay ceramics but such dye decolorized at a temperature of 750C in electric kiln firing. The addition of transparent base DT24 to atswete dye did not affect the coloration of the dyes on white ware ceramics.
